A matrix report displays columns based on a fixed dimension like Month or Year. Below is a sample output of a matrix report using a monthly column layout.
To create a Matrix report choose a column layout.
Your Choices are Year, Month, Week, Day, Bi-Weekly, Semi-Monthly and Fiscal Period.
Leave the other column layout fields blank.
NOTE that there is a limitation of one measure (decimal field) for matrix reports. If you need multiple measures you can create a pivot table in excel by following the instructions below.
Matrix report with multiple measures
Add the "posting date" field as a column and format it to "Date Year-Month" or "Date Month Text-Year"
Set the "Column Layout" to None
Run the report. Once generated, export it to excel and create a pivot table using the Posting Date as columns
